Apparently, that ad would result in the downfall of Roddick in the first round of this year's U.S. Open. Roddick blew an early break in the first set, losing the set in a tie break. He didn't seem to be able to figure out Muller's serve the rest of the match. It was a major shock not only because Roddick is a past winner who was touted to go as far as the semi's or finals, but because he was also the U.S. Open series' winner and appeared to be the hottest player going into the tournament. His unexpected departure opens up his side of the draw for many players, but if I were Roddick I wouldn't do a similar type ad next year because it may very well be another case of life imitating art.
